Martin Binder Jeweler is seeking an experienced professional watchmaker to join our long-established independent fine jewelry store in Valparaiso, Indiana. Our watchmaker of 23 years recently accepted a position with a Rolex retailer, creating an opportunity for an experienced watchmaker to step into an established service operation with a substantial existing customer base. We are looking for a skilled career watchmaker who can work independently, diagnose complex problems, and perform complete, high-quality service on luxury Swiss and other fine timepieces.
Primary Responsibilities Complete service and overhaul of automatic and manual mechanical watches Disassembly, cleaning, inspection, lubrication, assembly and adjustment Diagnosis and preparation of repair estimates Timing, regulation, amplitude and beat-error adjustment Chronograph diagnosis and service Quartz diagnosis and repair Water-resistance testing Crown, stem, tube, crystal and gasket replacement Case and bracelet service and refinishing when appropriate Identification and ordering of required parts Final quality-control inspection Proper handling of high-value customer timepieces
Requirements
Preferred Experience Experience servicing a broad range of luxury and Swiss watches is strongly preferred, including: Rolex, Tudor, Omega, Breitling, TAG Heuer, Longines, Cartier, Panerai, Oris, ETA, Sellita and Valjoux/ETA chronographs. Experience with vintage watches and additional high-end Swiss brands is a plus.
Qualifications We are primarily interested in demonstrated professional watchmaking ability and bench experience. At least 5 years of professional watchmaking experience, with 10+ years strongly preferred Formal watchmaking-school training or equivalent professional experience Ability to independently complete mechanical watch services Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills High standards of workmanship and quality control Experience working with luxury watches and valuable customer-owned merchandise Professional integrity, reliability and attention to detail
AWCI and Other Certifications AWCI certification is highly desirable but is not required for an exceptional experienced watchmaker. Relevant current AWCI credentials include: CMW21 - Certified Master Watchmaker of the 21st Century CW21 - Certified Watchmaker of the 21st Century

The Opportunity
This is not a production-line service-center position. The successful candidate will become the primary watchmaking professional within an established independent fine jeweler and will work on a broad range of watches and repair challenges.
